Beginner's Guide

Mastery Levels

Inspirations
Mastery Levels affect the actions you can do in the game and it also affects the efficiency of actions related to that mastery. Mastery Levels can be raised by equipping tools related to that mastery and/or by equipping tools related to that specific mastery.

Inspirations and Perks

Inspirations are specifc objectives you can complete to obtain Inspiration points. Filling the Inspiration bar to max will grant you a single perk point. Perk point can be spent to unlock a single perk node, granting its effect permanently once learned.

Not all Inspirations are free, some inpsirations require faith to obtain its inspiration point so be sure to stock up on faith when possible.

Technology Points

Technology Points are resources spent to unlock nodes on the Technology Tree. There are multiple Tech tree categories and each node on each category require specific technology points to unlock.

There are three types of technology points, divided by color which are red, green, and blue.

Each Tech Point Color Represents a Task Category

Red Building, Metallurgy, Most Crafting on Building Zones
Green Food-Related Actions, Gathering, Lumbering
Blue Writing, Corpse-Related, Theology
The three tech point types are tied to actions that are related to the Tech Tree options they unlock. Red are mostly meant for metallurgies so most building actions will provide red points while green points can easily be obtained from gathering and most agricultural actions.

Blue points are way harder to obtain at the start and are mostly obtained from autopsies.

Facilities and Work Zones

There are multiple work zones with specific facilities that can be built on them.
Graveyard Graveyard is the main area you bury corpses and decorate them with tombstones and fences.
Church Hosts theology facilities such as confession rooms, incenses
Morgue Hosts fresh corpses to perform autopsies and cremations.
Yard Hosts building and smelting facilities
Alchemy Lab Home to science-based facilities such as Laboratories
Writing Basement Hosts jewelry related facilities and writing tools.
Barracks Home to battle-related structues like spiked barricades.

Zombie Automation

There are 2 types of work you can assign zombies early on which are transporation and production. Zombies that are assigned to transportation will fetch materials that are needed for zombies assigned to production to automate crafting in bulk.

Zombies have mastery levels which can be raised using tools and technology points provided they have the red skulls available. Activities that require a higher mastery level than the zombie's current level will not be executable.

Early Game Tips

Prioritize Mastery Levels

your mastery level
Mastery Level is the main priority at the start of the game. Obtaining early levels of mastery for the 5 mastery level options will allow you to create most items given that you have the materials.

Equipped Tools that Provide Mastery Levels are Always Active

Say that you have a shovel and a fishing rod that both provide 1 mastery level each to agriculture, when you fish, both mastery levels obtain from the two tools are active, meaning that equipping the highest rarity tool you have is an easy way to increase Mastery Level.

Do not Bury Corpses With Red Skulls

Corpse With 1 Organ Intact
Increasing your graveyard quality involves both the decoration on the graveyard and the corpse that is being buried. Every red skull is a penalty to that corpse's quality so it is recommended to avoid burying corpses with lingering red skulls. Each organ that you remove via autopsy will reduce that specific corpse's red skull.

Build the Crematorium and Dispose Unwanted Corpses

If you have no more slots in your graveyard and morgue, the donkey will stop delivering corpses to your base. It is imperative that you build a Crematorium and dispose corpses that have lingering red skulls instead of burying them as exhuming corpses requires a big sum of gold, specially in the early game.

Always Sleep to Replenish Energy

Lack of Sleep
The game does not have a time limit schedule. It is recommended to sleep when Keeper's energy runs low if you're near the inquisitor's base. If you do want to have an extended activity per day, you can purchase food or simply forage berries near the base and consume them as you go through the activities you are doing.

Sleeping Also Avoids Fatigue

Fatigue is a status debuff that you'll obtai if you stay awake for far too long. You will immediately obtain an insanity debuff and most activities you do will also inflict insanity, making your maximum energy pool smaller. The insanity debuff obtained from fatigue is removed when you sleep so it will always be better to sleep to replenish your energy than consuming food in the early game.

Always do Sermon When Available

sermon
Sermon is one of the best early game activites you can do in the game. It is the only action you can do that will provide faith, while also generating a ton of money. A single sermon in the early game can easily generate up to 3+ silvers which is equivalent to cremating or burying 3 corpses.

Stock Up on Alcohol

Alcohol is the main method of removing insanity buildup so it's recommended to always stock up on it when you stop by the bar. But make sure that you're not bulk buying alcohol in one go due to the game's trading mechanic of items costing more when their supplies are low. Instead, buy an alcohol or two when you visit the tavern every time to slowly build up your alcohol stock in the early game.

Berry Pies is a Great Alternative While Also Restoring Energy

If you don't do activities that increase insanity quickly, stocking up on Berry Pies instead is a good alternative. It reduces insanity by 3 while also providing 30 energy and regular consumption will let you manage Keeper's insanity build up.
