EgoGamer (“we”, “us”) publishes game guides and wikis at egogamer.com and is operated from the Philippines. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the site, how we use it, and the choices you have. You can read our public pages without creating an account or providing contact details.
Information we collect
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our servers and the services in front of them keep standard technical logs when you visit: your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you request, the referring page, and timestamps. We use these logs to operate the site, debug problems, and protect it against abuse. Our infrastructure providers — Amazon Web Services (hosting) and Cloudflare (content delivery and security) — process this data on our behalf.
Information you send us. If you contact us, we receive whatever you include in your message (such as your email address). We use it to review, respond to, and resolve your enquiry or request. Our email is hosted by Google Workspace. Messages submitted through Contact Us are delivered using Amazon Simple Email Service (SES).
Contributor accounts. Editorial accounts are created by us for contributors; they are not open to readers. These accounts store an email address, a hashed password, any supplied names or username, account and login timestamps, wiki memberships and permissions, and links to authored content. We use account information to manage editorial access and attribution.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and how they found us. Google Analytics collects this using cookies and similar identifiers and processes it on Google’s servers; on EgoGamer, these measurement requests are loaded through a first-party path on our own domain before being forwarded to Google. Advertising
Advertising on EgoGamer, where it appears, is served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites, and may also use web beacons, IP addresses, and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

- You may opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info (or, in the European Union, www.youronlinechoices.com).
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we will not show you personalized ads without first asking for your consent, and you can revisit and change that choice at any time through the Cookie settings link in the site footer.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use them in a few ways: strictly necessary cookies that protect editorial sign-in and keep staff signed in to the content-management tools (a security cookie is also set when the sign-in form is opened). The public Contact Us form also sets a security cookie to protect submissions against forged requests. That security cookie is restricted to the contact page and expires after one day. After you send a message, a separate confirmation cookie briefly stores your submitted name and email address to show the confirmation screen. It contains no message text, is signed but not encrypted, and is inaccessible to page scripts. It is restricted to the contact page and is deleted when that page next opens, or expires after five minutes. We also use analytics cookies set by Google Analytics as described above, and advertising cookies set, where advertising appears, by Google and its partners as described above. Platforms whose embedded content appears in a guide may also set their own cookies — see Embedded content below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings at any time; the site remains fully readable without them. If you decline consent, ads may still be shown in a limited, non-personalized form, and Google may still use cookies or local storage solely to detect invalid traffic and fraud.
Embedded content
Some guides embed content hosted by other platforms — for example YouTube videos (loaded through YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player) and posts from X (Twitter). Each embed starts unloaded. Selecting its Load button lets that platform receive your IP address and browser details and may allow it to set cookies or use similar storage. You can leave an embed unloaded and continue reading the guide, or follow its link to view the content on the platform’s own site. Their handling of your data is described in Google’s privacy policy (YouTube) and X’s privacy policy.
Loading an embed is a separate choice from the advertising and analytics choices in Cookie settings. We do not remember your embed choice on later page visits. To stop a loaded embed, reload or leave the page; this does not undo information already sent or remove cookies the platform has stored. You can clear those through your browser’s settings.
How we share information
We do not sell personal information for money. Where advertising appears, information about your visit — cookie identifiers, your IP address, and the pages you view — is shared with Google and its advertising partners so they can select and measure ads, including personalized ads. Some US state laws treat that as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising; you can opt out as described under Your Privacy Choices below. Data is otherwise shared with the service providers named above — Google (analytics, advertising, and email hosting), Cloudflare, and Amazon Web Services — who process it to provide their services; with the platforms whose embedded content you view, as described above; and with authorities where the law requires us to.
Data retention and international transfers
Technical logs on the servers we control are automatically deleted within about 90 days; Cloudflare retains the request logs it processes at its edge under its own retention policy. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ retention settings. Because our servers are located in Singapore and our service providers operate globally, your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict its processing, or to complain to your local data protection authority. California residents may additionally exercise their rights under the CCPA/CPRA — including, where personal information is shared for cross-context behavioral advertising, opting out of that sharing through the advertising opt-outs listed above and under Your Privacy Choices below. You may also raise a privacy complaint with the Philippines’ National Privacy Commission. Its website explains the filing requirements.
Your Privacy Choices
The Cookie settings link in the site footer opens the choices that apply to you, in place on every page: the cookie consent message for readers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” form for readers in US states that give an opt-out right. Each choice is stored in the browser you make it in; no account or personal details are needed. Without JavaScript that link brings you to this section, and the opt-outs under Advertising above apply.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, a consent message asks you before any advertising cookies, personalized advertising, or analytics cookies are used. You can change your answer at any time through the Cookie settings link in the site footer. Outside those regions there is no consent message and nothing to revoke: the dialog says so and shows the advertising choice instead.
If you visit from a US state that gives you an opt-out right (for example California), the pages that carry advertising show a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link once advertising is live; using it stops personalized advertising for your browser. The Cookie settings link on every page also opens our own “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” form: the choice you submit there is stored in this browser, and while it is your opt-out, or while your browser sends the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, every advertising request this site makes from your browser asks Google to restrict its data processing, so the ads you see are not personalized. Google also receives the GPC signal directly with each ad request in the US states it supports; you can turn GPC on in a supporting browser or extension (see globalprivacycontrol.org). The opt-outs under Advertising above (Google Ads Settings and aboutads.info) also apply. Because readers have no accounts on EgoGamer, the choices you make here apply to the browser in which you make them; only a Google Ads Settings choice follows your Google account instead. Children
EgoGamer is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security and third-party links
The site is served over HTTPS and we take reasonable measures to protect the information we handle. Our guides may link to external websites; their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date above.
