Story and Content Progression
Story Packs Contain the Game’s Main Storyline Progression
The game’s storyline is mostly experienced by going through the game’s Scenario Packs. Each Scenario Pack is focused on a specific storyline while also containing several other content you can complete, such as battle missions, minigames, etc.Progressing Through Quests Requires SP
SP is the game’s energy resource for Story Packs, and you can only tackle quests after spending the required SP. The main Story Content does not require SP and can be done at any time at the player’s leisure.Gameplay Mechanics
The combat system is Semi-Active
The battle system is divided into two actions: action and engage. Action is technically the opponent's turn, and you must use a move that will counter the enemy’s chosen move.
Once you get through the action phase, you’ll proceed to the engage phase, which is your turn to attack. You’re free to use any abilities you have provided that you have the AP to use for your actions.
Moves Are Divided to 5 Types
| Attack | Attack is the most basic move. It's a command that will let your character inflict damage on the enemy. |
|---|---|
| Skill | The magician will have one usable skill and will be unique to each magician. Skills have a cooldown and an effect that ties to that magician's main playstyle. Support magicians will have abilities that provide buffs, while magicians focused on offense can dish out more damage with their skills. |
| Tag | Tag is automatically used after swapping out a character. Some characters have special tag skills that activate when tagged, with some focused on dealing damage while others mitigating it. |
| Ultimate Skill | A magician's ultimate must be charged up during battle. They are much harder to activate, but their effects are much stronger than regular skills. |
| Dominion Skill | Dominion Skills have a unique activation method per character, and once activated, they will immediately provide AP and Ultimate Skill points to extend your current combo. |
Character Progression
Magician Levels

Every Magician (character) can be leveled up to increase their overall stats. This is the most straightforward character progression, and you’ll only need EXP and the right Grimoire for the character’s role.
Artifacts

Artifacts are the game’s main equipment. They have fixed stats and effects and can be obtained from the game’s gacha. Each artifact increases the wielder’s stats and provides a unique bonus to the wielder if the artifact’s role matches.
Lastly, each Artifact increases a character’s ultimate skill, and a character-tied artifact will provide a greater ultimate skill increase.
Skill Enhancements

The next upgrades directly increase the magician’s skill level. Increasing skill levels requires Magic Silver Coins and Mystic Stones matching the magician’s element.
Kleis and Runes

The Magician’s Kleis and the Runes you slot in are where the build becomes more customizable. You’ll be able to unlock 3 gem slots after reaching levels 10, 30, and 50 respectively, and each magician has a different gem shape slot per rune slot.

Each rune can provide enchantment points, and reaching thresholds will allow you to activate the rune’s bonus for your character as shown in the image sample above.
Magic Nodes (Relationship)
Dupes Only Provide Stat Bonuses

A most important question is the importance of dupes in character progression. In Astrae Oratio, every character dupe will give you that magician’s Ormuia and can be used as a Topology Enhancement, increasing the character’s Attack, Strike, HP, and BP by 2% per duplicate.
This means that every character dupe will directly increase the character’s stats but **is not mandatory to unlocking or changing the character’s Kit on the current CBT.
Gacha Mechanics
Gacha Uses the Spark System
The Spark points also carry over to the next banner, which makes it easy to pull for all banners and still obtain pickups you want without fail. The standard banner’s spark can be used for a random SSR magician or artifact instead of a pickup target.

Team Building Mechanics
6 Elements to Build From

There are currently 6 elements in the game, and enemies can have resistance, immunity, or weakness to the said element. To know what element the enemy is weak to,
3 Offensive Roles and 3 Support Roles

Aside from the 6 elements, there are 6 roles, with half being focused on offense and 3 on defense. However, this is not set in stone, as some magicians belonging to offensive roles may have supportive abilities and vice versa.
Vignette for a Teamwide Buff

After assembling a team, you can equip 3 Vignettes to apply a team-wide buff to your team. Vignettes are also obtained via gacha and use a different resource called Starlight Film.
